Areas of Application
We have applied performance engineering methods in a wide variety of domains and have adapted our methods to changing technologies. The wide variety of areas in which we have worked illustrates our ability to contribute to the performance of new technologies and applications as they emerge.
The following are areas of application:
|
Positive Train Control & the European Train Control System (ETCS)We have worked on the relationship between performance requirements for positive train control and security considerations regarding the handling of control messages. We have also studied bandwidth requirements for control messages in Positive Train Control and ETCS. This was joint work with researchers at George Mason University, sponsored by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). Reports on this work are on the FRA’s web site. Learn more.

TelecommunicationsWe have applied performance engineering methods to many aspects of telecommunications, including call center routing, call signaling, network protocols, network management, call routing, operations support systems, provisioning, and enterprise convergence. |
On-Line Financial Services and ApplicationsWe have been involved in performance assessment or testing efforts of on-line transaction processing systems in the financial sector and of in-house processing of financial analyses.
